Anyone who has lived with mental health challenges, understands the ups and downs. My partner suffered terribly, and the impact it can have is profound. But I made a decision to stand by him, to support him.

I took in my brother when he was 15 and going through teenage challenges and my cousin when she became pregnant. Our house was chaos, but my desire has always been to help people.

What got me through were the strong values instilled in me by my parents.

It’s their foundation that has helped me build a strong resilience to anything that life presents. It’s desire that drives me forward, the desire to make a difference by supporting young people from the most challenging of backgrounds.

I have used my pain and experience to commit and support thousands of young people across the north of England to help them realise their potential, to inspire them that they can overcome adversity and achieve.
