My parents split up when I was younger and that was traumatic, as they could be working or living on opposite sides of the world. It was lonely at times, but you can sulk in sadness or you can do something about it. Our decision was to continue to make the best of what we had.

Aged 18 I was faced with another decision, where to study? Initially I was scared to move, but I chose Liverpool on the other side of the world. Although I was nervous, having the support of positive people always makes a difference.

What I learned quickly is, in response to fear, you have to make a decision and understand your desire. So you focus on how you want to feel rather worrying about what can go wrong.

It worked for me. Now aged 23, I graduated with a degree in law, made new friends and speak 6 languages; not including scouse! ☺
